My journey has been enriched by the experiences I’ve shared with family, friends and community - moments that have taught me the value of empathy, compassion and meaningful connection. Over the years, I’ve participated in countless celebrations - weddings filled with laughter, anniversaries that mark enduring love, and fresh beginnings that bring hope. I’ve also stood beside loved ones in times of immense sorrow, gaining a deep appreciation for the healing power of remembrance and farewell.

Through these moments, I came to understand the profound significance of ceremony. Whether it be joyful or solemn, ceremonies give shape to our stories, honour our values, and bring people together. They also help us to pause, reflect and find meaning. It was this realisation that inspired me to become a celebrant.

My path to this role has been deeply influenced not only by life’s experiences but also by a rich and varied professional background. I began my career in bookkeeping and financial management, where I developed strong attention to detail, reliability and a deep respect for client trust. As my career advanced, I transitioned into sales and marketing, assisting businesses throughout Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions with setting up practical business and accounting systems. For more than a decade, I worked closely with a wide range of clients, learning to listen carefully, understand their unique needs, and provide personalised solutions.

As technology evolved, I embraced the shift to digital platforms, moving into accounting software and eventually establishing my own successful online bookkeeping business. This allowed me to continue supporting clients while simultaneously building authentic, long lasting connections - all from my home base.

Looking back, I can see how every stage of my professional journey has led me to this meaningful role. The skills I honed - listening, understanding, organising, and personalising - now serve a deeper purpose, allowing me to create ceremonies that honour the lives and legacies of the people I work with.
